2. also: There are 2 ways of asking somebody’s name:
a. Wie ist Ihr Name? Mein Name ist _______. (formal)
b. Wie ist dein Name? Mein Name ist ______. (informal)
a. Wie heißen Sie? (Formal). Ich heiße .......
b. Wie heißt du? (Informal). Ich heiße .......
PLEASE practice a & b a lot!!! Also, put these on a sticky note and then on your computer screen!

4. We conjugated the verb “heißen”, to be named/called - not in the sense of name-calling though! :

By now I expect you to know the meaning of ich, due, er, sie, es, es, wir, ihr, sie, Sie of course.
5. Wie reviewed the two important verbs on Seite 134, sein & haben.
We used the following adjectives with sein: hungrig (hungry), durstig (thirsty), müde (tired)
a. Ich bin müde.
b. Er ist hungrig.
c. Wir sind durstig.
We used 3 nouns with haben: (der) Hunger, (der) Durst, (thirst) (die) Zeit (time)
a. Ihr habt Zeit.
b. Du hast Hunger.
c. Ich habe Durst.
6. Proverbs (Sprichwörter);
Der erste Schritt ist der schwerste.(The first step is the hardest)

Guten Abend zusammen,
Mittwoch (Wednesday) we had on only Dylan & Gustavo and they worked really hard! We sure missed everyone else...hope to see y'all (euch alle) back Monday!
Zusammenfassung:
We mainly focused on Länder & Sprachen & used the handout (link I sent you earlier) that Dylan was kind enough to print for everybody.
As always, we had plenty of new words:
1. der Augenschmaus = eye candy
das Auge = the eye
die Augen = eyes
der Schmaus = feast
die Schmäuse = feasts (rarely used in the plural)
2. der Streber = nerd
streben = to strive
3. fliessend = fluent
Beispiel (example): I spreche fliessend Englisch.
4. keine Ahnung = no clue, I don't know
5. We read, translated (& answered questions) the text (Bild= picture 2) auf Seite 6.

Of course, the pronoun (bold-typed) is substitutable. Only that word changes in this sentence or question!!!
(Yeah… for some reason this was difficult event though it wasn't).

Woher needs "aus", as we know...
BUT: Ich fliege in die Schweiz. Er fliegt in die Türkei. Sie fliegen in die USA. Wir fliegen in den Irak.
Rule: If the country has an article, we have to use "in" as a preposition!
Also: Answers to Woher are Dativ sentences. Answers to Wohin are Akkusativ sentences!!!!
Akkusativ-article changes: Only the masculine article changes!!! der becomes den. The other stay the same!!!
Remember that all countries without an article need "das", if you use an adjective!
Example: Ich fliege in das kalte Grönland.

1. Konjugieren Sie fliegen & fahren (to drive)!
2. Record 2 questions/answers for 1-4 and send them to me BEFORE class!
